Kazan – The AAOIFI Centre for Islamic Finance Development, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (DUM) of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Islamic Institute have signed two agreements: a Strategic Partnership Agreement between the AAOIFI Centre and the DUM of the Republic of Tatarstan, and a Knowledge Partnership Agreement between the AAOIFI Centre and the Russian Islamic Institute.
The agreements are aimed at developing Shariah expertise, professional training, educational programmes and AAOIFI international certification, as well as strengthening interaction between the academic community, religious institutions and market participants.
Particular attention will be paid to the development of an independent Shariah review system, training specialists in AAOIFI standards, and enhancing professional competencies in partnership finance.
Amier Al-Mousa, Director of the AAOIFI Centre, emphasised:
“Everything we do together with our partners, especially with the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan, is aimed at building an environment of trust. Such cooperation sends an important signal to investors and market participants, confirming that partnership finance products are developed in accordance with AAOIFI corporate governance standards and Shariah requirements.”
Mufti of the Republic of Tatarstan Kamil hazrat Samigullin noted:
“The most important issue is trust. It is essential to prevent those with less than pure intentions from entering the market, as this could undermine confidence in the entire Islamic banking experiment. This is precisely why independent Shariah review and the training of qualified specialists are of key importance.”
The signing of the agreements reflects the shared commitment of the parties to developing a sustainable partnership finance ecosystem in Russia and the CIS through international standards, professional education, Shariah governance and inter-institutional cooperation.
