Refresher of AAOIFI Financial Accounting Standards (FAS)

لمحة عامة

نظرة عامة على البرنامج

سياق البرنامج
This workshop is part of the Core Practitioner Suite, building implementation capacity in accounting and finance functions across Islamic financial institutions. It provides a structured, cross-contract coverage of AAOIFI Financial Accounting Standards most relevant to banking practice.

Why This Programme Matters
Accounting for Islamic finance products is distinct from IFRS practice across every major contract family. Finance teams, auditors, and analysts need to understand these differences, apply FAS requirements correctly, and navigate the practical implementation challenges that arise in daily operations and financial reporting.

Programme Approach
Delivered in English over three days via online format. Combines PowerPoint presentations, MS Excel exercises, case studies, Q&A, and concept checkers. Structured to mirror the CIPA FAR syllabus for examination candidates.

Day 1: Foundations, Trade Contracts, and Zakah

  • Conceptual framework and general presentation and disclosure requirements
  • Trade-based contracts: Murabaha, Salam, and Istisna
  • Zakah accounting

Day 2: Lease, Equity, and Investment Contracts

  • Rental-based contracts: Ijarah and Ijarah Muntahia Bittamleek
  • Equity-based contracts: Musharaka and Mudaraba
  • Investment Agency (Al-Wakala Bi Al-Istithmar)
  • Investment transactions: real estate, associates, and subsidiaries

Day 3: Deposits, Consolidation, and Takaful

  • Islamic deposits and investment accounts
  • Impairment, credit losses, and onerous commitments
  • Disclosures on transfer of assets and consolidation
  • Takaful accounting overview

CIPA Examination Alignment
The programme is structured to support candidates preparing for the CIPA Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) module, covering the key technical areas tested in the examination.
