The Standards and Guidance section explains how the AAOIFI Centre for Islamic Finance Development supports the effective adoption and practical application of AAOIFI standards across the CIS and beyond — helping stakeholders move from understanding to consistent implementation.
What We Mean by "Standards"
AAOIFI standards provide structured frameworks that support consistent practice in Islamic finance. They help institutions and markets apply Shari'ah-aligned principles in a disciplined way — strengthening governance, transparency, comparability, and market confidence.
The Centre does not replace AAOIFI's standard-setting process. Our role is to help stakeholders move from understanding standards to applying them effectively, within their operational and regulatory contexts.

Implementation Guidance
We produce and share implementation-oriented guidance that supports stakeholders in applying standards in real operational settings. Guidance focuses on practical questions that arise during adoption — governance workflows, documentation expectations, internal controls, and reporting consistency.
Localisation Support
Markets vary in legal frameworks, supervisory expectations, and institutional maturity. We support localisation by helping stakeholders align implementation with local requirements while maintaining the integrity and intent of the standards — practical adaptation without compromising consistency.
Toolkits and Templates
To reduce adoption effort and improve consistency, we develop practical toolkits that institutions can use — checklists, process maps, documentation outlines, control point templates, and readiness assessments designed to strengthen implementation discipline.
