Контекст программы
This workshop is part of the Core Practitioner Suite — programmes covering the highest-utility product families in Islamic banking practice. Trade-based financing (Murabahah, Musawamah, Salam, and Istisna) represents the core financing stream for many Islamic financial institutions.
Why This Programme Matters
Cross-border trade finance introduces complexity in documentation, sequencing, and Shari’ah compliance that practitioners often find challenging. This workshop builds the technical and practical capability to execute Islamic trade finance transactions across borders, addressing regulatory, legal, and Shari’ah dimensions.
Programme Approach
Delivered in Arabic over two days using hybrid format. The programme moves from trade finance fundamentals to Islamic practice under AAOIFI standards, with a focus on real-world cross-border execution.
Day 1: Introduction to Trade Finance
- Fundamentals of international trade and import/export processes
- Key stakeholders and core trade documents
- Role of banks in trade finance and risk mitigation
- Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections
- How Islamic banks adapt conventional trade mechanisms
Day 2: Islamic Trade Finance in Practice
- Islamic trade finance framework under AAOIFI Shari’ah Standards (Murabaha, Documentary Credits, Musharakah, Wakalah)
- Letters of Credit: parties, structures, and step-by-step execution
- Documentary Collections: comparison with LCs, advantages, and practical workflows
- Trade finance instruments: Guarantees, standbys, and appropriate use cases
- Risks, compliance, and regulatory challenges in cross-border trade
- Shari’ah oversight and unlocking Islamic trade finance across borders
Progression Pathway
An intermediate-to-advanced programme delivered in Arabic. Participants should have working knowledge of Islamic finance. Complements the AAOIFI FAS Refresher and Products Structuring workshops.
